COVID-19 against dental aerosols
Keywords:
COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, Dentistry, aerosolsAbstract
Most dental care procedures create tiny droplets that are dispersed into the air. The aerosols that are produced inside the dental office increase the risk of transmission to the dentist and his work environment. Having said this, COVID-19 facilitates contagion in closed places, causing the level of prevention to increase. Upon contact with contaminated saliva or blood, aerosols can spread infective microorganisms outside of the patient's mouth. The objective of this research is to identify the efficiency with which the aerosols produced with the different dental instruments act as a consequence of the new virus. A bibliographic review of scientific research was carried out in Google Scholar and Scielo delimiting the period of 2020 and 2023, with the keywords COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, dentistry, aerosols, in Spanish and English. As a result, good information was presented about new techniques for the use of dental materials and various biosafety measures that conform to the protocol required within this environment.
