Abstract

Introduction: Ultrasonic Irrigation is a very important procedure in endodontic therapy and at the same time has created great controversy in the choice of the best irrigation technique and system, since one of the main objectives of endodontic therapy is to achieve disinfection. complete examination of the duct system to ensure treatment success. Objective: describe the effectiveness of ultrasonic irrigation in root canals. Method: A bibliographic review was carried out in 2020, a series of published original and review articles were selected, which explain the benefits of this method as it is in the SciELO, Science Direct and Medigraphic databases and Google academic. Development: sonic activation is an effective method in disinfecting root canals, causing less extrusion of irrigant than ultrasonic irrigation and conventional syringe irrigation. However, ultrasonic systems are more effective in removing dentinal remains. Conclusions: in several documents investigated, they conclude that ultrasound in endodontic practice has allowed the simplification of techniques and procedures, optimizing procedures such as cleaning and disinfection of the canals accompanied by the irrigating solution with Sodium Hypochlorite, this being the most effective until today.
