The impact of syphilis on the lives of adolescents

Introduction: syphilis is an infectious disease with acute or chronic evolution, considered by the WHO, a sexually transmitted infection, which is caused by Treponema pallidum, a paleococcal subspecies of spirochetes, which presents with manifestations in the skin, mucous membranes and annexes. Objective: describe the impact that syphilis generates on the lives of adolescents. Method: a bibliographic review was carried out, Google Academic was taken as academic sources to carry out the research, where several references were taken from articles, scientific research carried out by different universities nationwide. Development: a clear review was made of various sources where different types of effects due to contagion were highlighted, both in young people and in pregnant women, attributed to misinformation about different contraceptive methods to avoid the spread of syphilis through sexual transmission. Conclusions: overall, the research highlighted the need for effective and accessible education about Syphilis, as well as continued efforts to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.
