Abstract

Introduction: chronic inflammation is associated with a wide range of degenerative and neurodegenerative diseases of aging, including disorders such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's dementia, amyotrophic borderline atrophy, tauopathies, and macular degeneration. Peripheral conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, and myocardial infarction are also included. Objective: describe the relationship of chronic inflammation in degenerative diseases. Method: bibliographic analysis of some available sources was carried out through articles from scientific journals found in the Google Scholar database, from the year 2020 of its publications. 10 scientific articles were selected to have a large amount of information in English and Spanish. Development: inflammatory responses are activated by molecular patterns that are associated with damage, these release harmful physical substances such as chemicals or those metabolic stimuli that are sterile agents during cellular stress, after infection lipoxins, reoselvins, maresin and proteins related to inflammation are produced. The clinical consequences of damage by inflammation can become serious and include a higher risk of metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes; liver disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease or various types of cancer. Final considerations: chronic inflammations are established depending on the population such as lifestyle and genetic characteristics, it is established that chronic systemic inflammation deteriorates normal immune function and increases susceptibility to other types of infections or tumors in poor response to any type of vaccine.
