La pandemia COVID-19 ha generado un impacto de largo alcance sobre la salud pública global al dar lugar a una condición emergente: el COVID prolongado o Long COVID. Según la definición de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), esta entidad clínica se caracteriza por la presencia de síntomas que persisten o aparecen tres meses después de una infección confirmada por SARS-CoV-2, sin que exista una causa alternativa que los explique. Esta condición gana creciente atención por su complejidad fisiopatológica y su carga funcional a largo plazo
