Scalp melanoma as a cause of ascites. Presentation of case

A 56 years old man presented with the clinical picture of two month with ascites and constitutional syntoms as primordial ones. Subsequently, lesions were documented in the left cervical Vb and suboccipital stations, suspecting a primary tumor in the scalp and finding a lesion compatible with scalp melanoma. Extension studies were performed, finding cerebral, pulmonary, hepatic, splenic and ascites metastases, with 1735 U/L for LDH. Melanoma of the scalp represents a high mortality rate pathology compared to melanomas of the rest of the body, usually associated with late diagnosis among other factors. Scalp melanoma is a very aggressive entity with a poor prognosis in advanced stages and according to what was observed in the patient, the onset of ascites may be associated with secondary hepatic and peritoneal involvement.
