Maxillary bones are a frequent site for the appearance of cysts that show themselves as slow-growing entities, but when they increasingly arise they can cause the cortical bone expansion and the induced osteolysis in the affected bone. A patient diagnosed with a large residual mandibular cyst was the case presented. The cyst was located on both sides of the mandibular lower midline division with a length of approximately 6cm. Patient was referred to the Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at the Military Hospital of Camagüey diagnosed with an intra oral volume increase at the mandibular region, with no symptoms. After the interrogation, panoramic radiography and differential diagnosis, a residual cyst was diagnosed. Surgical procedure was performed. The sample was sent for biopsy and the result was in agreement with the previous diagnosis. It evolved favorably, presenting areas of bone neoformation.
