Study of the psychological impact of COVID-19 on medical science students in Granma

Introduction: in these times of pandemic by COVID-19 we must face an unprecedented situation in society, where we must face the direct effects of the virus, such as the symptomatology of the disease, fear of contagion and concern for loved ones, also we must deal with quarantine measures to stop the pandemic. Objective: to describe the psychological impact of COVID-19 on medical science students. Method: a descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted from April to July 2020. The universe consisted of 64 students and a sample of 42 students who conducted active research in the different offices of Manzanillo was selected, by intentional non-probabilistic sampling. The stress level scale and the Connor-Davidson resilience scale were applied to them. Results: 78.6% of the students maintained a resilient behavior while only 21.4% showed low levels of resilience. 23.8% maintained normal stress levels, while 76.2% of the students presented stress. Conclusions: COVID 19 had several consequences for medical students, who were constantly exposed to the virus while offering their services to the population through active research.
