Use of mouth mouthes to control oral halitosis in uniandes university students.

Introduction: it is essential and very important to have good oral hygiene and cleanliness as it is vital to maintain oral well-being. Currently, some oral diseases are among the most important medical problems facing people around the world, largely due to their high rate of occurrence, wide prevalence and general dissemination. Objective: to describe the use of mouthwashes in students at the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes. Method: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out at the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes “UNIANDES” located in the Ambato-Tungurahua canton, belonging to the country of Ecuador, in the year 2022. The universe was made up of 85 students from the career of Dentistry. Result: of a total of 85 respondents, 65 people, which is equivalent to 76%, declare that they have knowledge and information about mouthwashes. 51 people, equivalent to 60%, report that it is necessary to use mouthwashes to control genuine halitosis, a total of 29 people, equivalent to 34%, mention that perhaps the use of oral mouthwashes may be necessary. Conclusions: it is concluded that there is a high number of people who know the meaning of oral halitosis, however, they have poor education in the use of mouthwashes.
