Abstract

Introduction: anxiety can be expressed through catastrophic or pessimistic beliefs that are thoughts about the future, where students create negative scenarios that can generate a vicious circle of fears and insecurities, which actually ends up harming their study and academic performance in the classroom. evaluations. Objective: describe the levels of student stress and anxiety in the Dentistry career at the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes in the Academic period November 2022 - March 2023 and analyze the social phenomena produced by the student's stress in their environment. Method: observational, descriptive cross-sectional study at the Regional Autonomous University of Los Andes, belonging to the country of Ecuador in the academic period November 2022 to March 2023, the universe and sample consisted of 40 level 2 students " A” of the Dentistry career. Results: in the study it can be seen that 14 people (35%) said that they sometimes have insomnia or nightmares when they are about to take midterm evaluations, 16 people (40%) chose the low option regarding whether they feel pressure from the competition. with group mates. Conclusions: in the research project it was observed that the level of stress generally increases when they are close to taking midterm exams, it was verified that the issue addressed consists of a health problem mainly in the university environment.
