Lérida de la Caridad de la Torre Castillo, Pucha, nació el 10 de diciembre de 1950 en la provincia Guantánamo. Comenzó su vida laboral como maestra en la Escuela Primaria “Manuel Ascunce Domenech”. Trabaja como maestra voluntaria en las montañas guantanameras, al culminar comienza en la Escuela Primaria “Alfredo Miguel Aguayo”. Aprobó el curso de Metodología de la Investigación en la provincia Santiago de Cuba, trabajó en el CEDIC del MINED Municipal de Guantánamo, impartiendo varios cursos de esta materia.
