Effectiveness of manual respiratory physiotherapy techniques in patients with cystic fibrosis

Abstract

Introduction: the cystic fibrosis is a chronic illness where diverse physiotherapy techniques are applied to maintain the clean breathing roads of secretions. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of the manual techniques of Breathing Physiotherapy offered to the sick person with Cystic Fibrosis in the Provincial Pediatric Hospital “Hermanos Cordové” during the years 2022 and 2023. Method: he/she was carried out a study experimental pre in the Provincial Pediatric Hospital “Hermanos Cordové” during the years 2022 and 2023; the study variables were sex, age to the beginning of the symptoms and the diagnosis of the illness, as well as the value of the partial saturation of oxygen and the data to the auscultation of the thorax after applying manual techniques of conventional breathing physiotherapy. Results: males' prevalence existed between 10 and 14 years of age, with high number of revenues every year, as well as it improves in the auscultation and the oxygen saturation after one week using manual techniques of percussion, vibration and thoracic pressure. Conclusions: the increment of the values in the pulse oximetría and the decrease of stertors crepitantes to the lung auscultation demonstrates the effectiveness with which the manual techniques of conventional breathing physiotherapy were applied: percussion, vibration and thoracic pressures to the sick person of Cystic Fibrosis.
